Emigration Expo 1-.2.4.2023

Dutch and other exhibition visitors are definitely a potential for the Jakobstad region!

During the first weekend in April (1-2.4.2023), Emigration Expo, one of Europe’s largest emigration events, was held in Houten, Utrecht in the Netherlands, just under an hour’s journey from Amsterdam.

More than 11,000 visitors paid admission in order to look for a place to move to. They are actively looking for a new place where to build a new life. They are of course looking for work, but also quality of life, security and are interested in what Finland “The happiest country in the world” can offer as well as our public services and one of the world’s best education systems. Many of the visitors we talked to, during the two exhibition days, say that Holland is crowded, expensive and the future uncertain. Our short distances, nature by our doorstep, early childhood education, the cost of living, work-life balance, our occupational health care and low-hierarchy work environment were all something that appealed to the visitors. And all this is something that the Jakobstad Region “The Best Place in the World” can offer – and we could see that people were interested.

Finland had a large exhibition stand in place in the Scandinavian Hall, which was clearly the most visited area during the weekend. Representatives from the Jakobstad Region took part in the 36 man strong Finnish delegation and there were enough visitors for everyone.

Now we have gathered the contacts we got from the exhibition and invite them to a digital info session Monday 24.4 to deepen their knowledge of the Jakobstad region and what opportunities we can offer them.

With us at the exhibition we had Tina Nylund from PPLE and Johan Fredlund from Dobra Finland. In addition, we informed about 10 open vacancies in the region. Beamex, HSJ Products, Nautor and Solving participated with job vacancies.
