The Jakobstad Region consists of the following 5 municipalities in Ostrobothnia, Finland: Jakobstad, Kronoby, Larsmo, Nykarleby and Pedersöre.

In the Jakobstad region we have a natural attitude towards creative expression, both among the younger and older generations. The region's visual arts and music scene is vibrant and strong, chiefly owing to Campus Allegro's cultural education.
Our region is best charachterized by uts social community. We like to do things in teams, together. This becomes evident by looking at the region’s numerous associations – over one thousand of them – that enrich the inhabitants’ everyday life.

If you travel through all fice municipalities, you can stop at Tonttula Elf Manor in Larsmo, listen to ghost stories at Kronoby's Torgare Vicarage, walk across the Bockabron Bridge in Pedersöre, visit the unique arctic museum Nanoq in Jakobstad and admire the childhood home of the famous Finnish author Zacharias Topelius in Kuddnäs, Nykarleby.

Near the sea, is where I want to be
Colorful aurora borealis, a raging autumn storm, the midnight sun and mighty ice formations - Fäboda (~10 km outside Jakobstad city centre) - is fascinating all year round. This is the oasis for the people in Jakobstad and the whole region. This is where we flock to swim, have picnics on the sun-warmed cliffs, enjoy a good coffee at Fäboda Kaffestuga (café), hike and bicycle.

Lostenen & Utterleden
Hiking in Nature
Deep in the forests of Överpurmo, Pedersöre lies Finland's largest boulder Lostenen (Lynx Rock), a16-metre-high rock resting on a pile of smaller stones and rocks. The Losten is a good starting point for one of the region's longest hiking trails, Utterleden (Otter Trail). Along this 50-kilometer-long trail from Vilobacka in Överpurmo to the ski lodge in Lappfirs, you have the opportunity to enjoy unspoiled nature and the true wilderness.

How to get here?
You can get to the Jakobstad/Pietarsaari region conveniently both by car and by public transport. Trains stop at Pietarsaari-Pedersöre train station in Bennäs, Pedersöre and the shuttle bus takes you conveniently to the city center of Jakobstad/Pietarsaari (10 km) and back to the station when it is time to return.
You can also come by plane to the Jakobstad Region. The local airport (Karleby-Jakobstad/KOK-airport) is located in Kronoby. You can fly from Helsinki to Karleby-Jakobstad in just over an hour.
