The region has boosted its AI capabilities

How can my company get started with AI and take its use to the next level? That was the starting question when the AI Boost Jakobstad region project kicked off in May 2025. Since then, around 20 companies have explored the question through knowledge workshops, resource workshops and practical cases, with business students from Novia helping companies develop solutions for current needs.

Looking back, it is almost astonishing how much AI has developed and changed during the project alone. Most of us have probably already forgotten when the first language model for widespread public use was launched.

We have learned a lot along the way. If there is one thing we have realized, it is that we need to keep up with this development if we want to stay competitive in the future.

A big thank-you to all participating companies, students, partners and trainers for making the project a success! You have invested a great deal of time and resources in taking the next step.

Personally, I think two effects stand out in projects like this. A longer process has real benefits. There is time to reflect between sessions and to build a sense of community along the way. The other effect is the connection between students and working life. We have too few meeting points like these today, especially with change happening so quickly. More experienced professionals need to keep their knowledge up to date, while new graduates bring fresh expertise. A win-win, in other words.

If you were not involved this time, we have made the knowledge and materials available here (in Swedish).

We hope you will find something useful on our project platform!
