Visit from Gislaved

Is there any region that has a larger manufacturing industry than the Jakobstad region and similar entrepreneurial spirit? We might end up in Sweden then, more specifically in Gislaved.

On 17-18 October, we had a visit from Gislaved to warm up the contacts we established long before, but which have been dormant in recent years. We updated each other on the regions’ situation, opportunities and challenges. The goal was to find themes for possible joint projects and cooperation, and we will now look further into this. There is also a previous contact with the German region of Wedemark, with whom we have previously sought joint projects. Attracting investments and establishments, plastics, polymers and composites, as well as automation, robotization and digitalization were themes that emerged in the discussions. Now we will dive into project financing and see what we can find to build on, with the possibility to widen the cooperation spectrum to entail other parts of Europe as well.

Thank you for the fruitful discussions with our guests Niclas Palmgren, Chairman of the Municipal Council, Anton Sjödell, 1st Vice Chairman of the Municipal Board and Municipal Councillor, Niclas Hiljemark, Head of Business and Peter Albinsson, Municipal Board Administration. And thanks to all the municipal official’s and politician’s here in the Jakobstad Region who took part in the program and a big thank you to Solving and Andreas Björk, for allowing us to come on a rewarding company visit.
